"Mai-Ling :: Pioneering the genre of new sound for a new generation of classical music enthusiasts"
My Name is Frances Mai-Ling, I am a Pioneering Alternative-Classical pianist. It's a genre I created for the music I compose has a place in this world. It is new, exciting, relaxing and therapeutic. Its' Classical music with a twist. My father who's 87 and a 15 year post stroke survivor enjoys my music greatly. Not because he's my father, but the benefits of it being healing has helpful towards his recovery.I perform a concert program of original music that ncludes vocal and instrumental music, music written to theatrical and film productions, music inspired my nature, story and film, and music set to the text of Shakespeare. In addition to regular concerts I also perform therapy concerts in healthcare facilities. I created Notes & Poets, a place to showcase creative individuals talents. I am one of the original members of the Shake + Poe Project. Where we perform original music to the text of Shakespeare & Poe. I am also a published writer and visual artist.
I also work with the American Heart Association and its division the American Stroke Association as a Go Red For Women and Stroke Association Ambassador. Since 2002, I have been working hard to help create an awareness for heart disease and stroke through my CDs by putting awareness information and donating a portion of every sale to the AHA/ASA, being a pioneer in advocacy through music. In 2005 I created the "Take Heart Awareness Cause" to help in my crusade of educating people. Along with that, I give speaking presentations about caregiving. I have been recognized regionally and nationally and was awarded a "Heart & Stroke Heros" Award. I am also co-founder of EastWestNow Records, the first record label to promote artists who are Asian, with a focus of those who are half-Asian.
I'm currently working to release a new CD, two book projects in the subject of Magic and Caregiving.

Care Giver to my Father / Self
My father had a massive hemmoraghic stroke in July 1998 that resulted in
a craniotomy. Because of how it massively affected his left side, paralyzed
I was there to help my mom give my father a good quality of life.
I helped him maintain his ability to walk through the house with a quad-cane,
if he needed help with any ADL's, prepared meals, wheelchair transfers
to the car etc.
As a result of my years doing this, and the persona experience I have gained.
I began giving presentations and lectures. To help people with their own
situations and those who are in need to be inspired in their journey on care giving.

Research Assistant / Portraits of American Veterans Project
Portraits of American Veterans Project‖ was founded by
Jeanine Hill-Soldner and Frances Mai Ling in August 2009 as a continuation of art work about war and veterans. The exhibit in-corporates original oil paintings of local American Veterans with photographs and stories about the veterans told in their own words.
The veterans meet with the Artist in her studio for an interview,
a photo shoot and sketching session before the painting begins. This project is in the second phase of representing American
Veterans in narrative context where the paintings and stories
provide a visual dialogue, and a connection between the viewer and the everyday American who have served our country.
Ms. Hill-Soldner has include veterans of all ages, both
men and women. This is a healing project that touches all who
view the works and read the stories. There are now 19 paintings and stories with plans to continue creating new art about war and veterans. Plans are underway to develop the PAVP into a nation wide traveling exhibit.
